Members Adrenochrome
What's that in US dollars? about 900 at the moment. Most new (foreign) gear is very expensive in the UK, might be better getting a used amp & cab and a new bass perhaps?

Members Crescent Seven
Peavey gear is solid, you should look into the amps as well as the basses for affordable and reliable gigware. Also, you should look at the Ashdown MAG300. It's not a metalhead's dream amp but it's plenty loud and it's not expensive. Pair that with a Peavey 4ohm 2x15 or 4x10 cab and you'll have an amp that will gig. He does need more money though, unless you can find some smokin' deals on used stuff. A good rule of thumb for metal bass is at least 300w and at least a 4x10 or 2x15 cab. Of course, other people will disagree with me, but metal is loud and you'll need to move some air. Don't get a 2x10. C7
