Members jonathan_matos5 Posted September 18, 2007 Members Share Posted September 18, 2007 the stupid thing wont scroll down:freak: i looked on google and it seems to be a known issue but the only things i can find say to clean out the trackball. my trackball moves just fine its the device itself that is not reading it as scrolling down so i cant use it. Members bleepo Posted September 18, 2007 Members Share Posted September 18, 2007 It's not a matter of the trackball working fine, it's a matter of the sensors under it. Lick the trackball. I had the same problem with my curve. Spit cured it! Also, try a hard reset (take the battery out). If it's a hardware issue, spit should help. If its software, the reset will. if this doesn't work, there are instructions on how to take it apart to clean it on all the BB forums. Last but not least, if all of the above fail, contact RIM. They swapped my coworkers pearl no questions asked when his stopped working. It was a different issue (no selection instead of rotation) but was still the trackball. Members chunky-b Posted September 18, 2007 Members Share Posted September 18, 2007 I sometimes have trouble with the trackball on my Pearl from a grain of salt getting in there. (I no longer surf the web while eating french fries!) I have used compressed air and some really thin things to clean around the track ball and it usually starts working again.
