just made up a caddy with a 5400 hard drive for my future laptop..usb 2.0

i am copying my pictures from my backup 7200 hard drive which runs on mains power

via the pc

sort of transfer

will the 5400 caddy be happy with this or should i stop..it is getting warm a bit

when i tried to copy the lot it said...about 700 minutes to copy..

so i am doing them a folder at a time..:)

It should be fine! I would just let it go. It's going to get hot...but that's what it's made to do. I wouldn't worry about it.

many thanks..i just got a bit worried..its a titanium caddy so its dissipating some heat and i have it on edgeto vent it..

but

and it just struck me..

i am feeding it usb wise via a hub...do you think it would be better direct into the usb slot on the controller ...

its at the back and i have a hub at the front for 'odd jobs'

cheers

I would plug it right into the computer. It'll probably be a little faster...especially if the hub is only USB 1.0 (which I doubt)
