Members jeid2000
Hey, My bass player has an Ashdown 300watt bass combo. He's blown about 3 of their speakers now and he's had enough. He basically needs a 15" speaker capable of handling 300watts comfortably, that won't blow. Reliability is important as we gig quite a lot. Members rpsands
Kappalite 3015s get a great review and are very cheap for what they are. Maybe you can dig up the size/port specs of the Ashdown's cabinet and someone can analyze it with winisd or something.
Members Poltergeist
i think your bass player is doing something wrong.... ashdown is usually pretty good quality, their speakers dont just BLOW like that... well, get a GK head and a cab.... you cant beat them on price/quality (especially quality)... Members rpsands
Another thing is he might not have enough headroom and be clipping the poweramp (hard clipping on solid state = bad news). I don't know exactly what causes that but my understanding is it's related to turning up really loud and putting more input power into the power amp than it can amplify to the volume you specify. Or something like that. The solution there is going to be upgrade amps or turn down.
