Members burnthiscorpse
I picked up a tobias growler last week for a great price. I love the feel and playability of the bass. The way it feels when strapped on ect, its a great bass. However, the bart humbucker and bart pre, leave a little to be desired. Being an ash body with a maple neck and wenge board....i would assume I SHOULD be able to get great tone from this bass if I put a passive pup in it. So what else would work, in place of the MM style bart bucker? I'm not an enormous fan of the EBMM pups though. I would either put a passive pup with normal pots or even consider a pre amp. I dont really want to spend a ton. I have even considered using a P pup and cutting a custom pick guard to cover the area. Or keeping the passive bart bucker and just removing the pre amp in favor of just regular pots.
