Members SoftwareRuss
I've never played a Tribute series, but I've definitely played several MIM P basses in my younger years. They've always been extremely hit or miss. I've played a few that felt fantastic, and sounded even better, and I've played a few that felt and sounded like complete garbage. If G&L has consistency on their side, I'd go with the SB-2.
Members jonathan_matos5
two totally different animals. my vote goes for the SB-2 because it is the angrier beast.
Members Davo17
I have not tried the tribute bass, but I have a tribute s500 and had a mexican strat. The tribute was the better guitar. A step up from the strat, imo.
Members Tolka
For me, the SB2 wins hands down. The PUPS and elecrtonics are superior and are the same as the USA SB2's. The general difference between the USA and Tribute SB2's is in the finish... and that's not much of a difference considering the price difference. The only solution is to try both, and decide for yourself.
Members NHLfan2010
I would take a G&L over a MIM any day of the week!

Members Captain Fathead
If you're testing them before hand, take whichever feels more comfortable. MIM fenders are decent quality these days (beware of the older models, I'm assuming you're buying new here). If you're buying online or used, take the tribbie hands down.
