GPS tags for your gear.

Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to obtain a way to GPS track your gear. I know very little about this but I do know that the new Ipads have GPS. I've seen numerous articles on thieves getting busted that way.

 

Started thinking about it this weekend after friends got some gear snatched from the hotel lot. They were parked next to us and we didn't get hit.

 

I would love to bury some transponder or some Batman like tracking device inside a speaker cabinets or guitar cases and such.

 

Any clever ideas on how to use some other GPS equipped item to make this happen?

The problem with those GPS devices is that they need power. RFID tags don't require power but they are only readable from a very short distance.

1) put a bunch of weed in your speaker cabinet

2) If it gets stolen let me know and I'll call my friend Jerry. He'll go into his scooby doo, bloodhound Terminator mode and he'll find it

That looks to be more like a logger (so you can see where you're teenager is taking your vette)

that'll tell you where your gear has BENN, not where it is.

It'd be fun if your stuff gets recovered by the cops I guess, you could see where they used it
