Members Range Rat 7
I just got a Mesa 20/20 and it came with Sovtek EL84's. Are they what will sound best or should I try something else? I'll be using it with a Marshall JMP1.
Members sp_spaceboy
JJ power tubes are VERY highly regarded. I can't speak for them myself - but I can tell you that much more important is changing the tubes in that JMP-1! whether it's JJ, EH, something NOS or the new Mullard Reissues (mine ), the difference is awsome, and much needed. Members Driftone
I jusy re-tubed mine with: 4XHarma EL84L matched power tubes. 3XRuby 12AX7 for the phase inverters and pre'. Here in the UK I got them from Derek Rocco @www.watfordvalves.com Their site is well worth a look as there are reviews for just about any type of valve you can think of. I got a tec to check the bias, but it was OK and I just plugged them in. It made one hell of a difference as the origional Boogie valves had just about had it.
