Members El Grinder
http://www.hoochies.info/amp/ampcrazy-guitar.html Granted, this site is not in English for the most part, but it's easy enough to make out "Black Beauty, new 6L6 amp". Has anyone else heard anything about this?
Members RedMikeLine
Hmmm..I never heard of it either. Looks cool. It might be a 2/50/2 or 2/90/2 that someone modified, and the guy selling it is all confused. I can't believe this slipped under the radar if its real. (edit) Actually I found another Japanese site selling it. http://www.okada-web.com/ So I guess its real?
Members El Grinder
I just wonder why it's not listed on VHT's website...

Members El Grinder
Major competition for the 2:Ninety and 2:one-hundred. Lots of potential for high quality out of that thing. *very interested* heh
Members TRUSTNO1
I though the 2-50-2 worked with 6L6
Members RedMikeLine
Yeah, the 2/50/2 can take 6L6 tubes. Its got a little bias switch in it. But I guess its not really maketed as such. Maybe this new one is aimed at people that want it set up for 6L6's right from the factory. And a change from the silver just makes it seem like a brand new product. It seems like a little marketing idea to me, not really filling a void in their product line.
Members El Grinder
However, aren't transformers and overall tonality of amps tweaked to better compensate for the type(s) of tubes used? Although most Mesa amps have bias switches, they're voiced for 6L6 tubes. Maybe this new VHT has a slightly different voicing and transformer design to better compliment 6L6 tubes. If not, then it is just a paint job & marketing scheme.
