Members H535
A while back some of use were happily moding our Eb 6166 as expression pedals. The hardest part (at least for me) was getting the blasted sting rewound on the pot. Well EB finaly has posted instructions, complete with picks on how to do this. http://www.ernieball.com/graphics/cord_spring_kit_directions_03-17-04.pdf

Members Musicman2000
I've developed a trick that takes a lot of the "wrestling" out of switching pots. Basically. I remove the 4 fastening srews of the electronics to the body. I then undo the hex lock screw. Next I carefully slide the pot out without distrubing the kevlar windings. I next use a tapered round stick to replace where the pot was removed and preserve the windings. Now that the pot is free I can re-solder replacement pot and reverse the procedure to install. This way I don't have to mess with hooking the tension springs either. Hey works for me.
Members EVH Wolfgang
My final shot at it kinda worked out like that. Basicaly, avoiding unwinding the bobin and messing up the string as much as possible!
Members H535
Well I rewound both of my pedals this weekend and what a difference! Very smooth travel now and no dealing with the string derailing in the middle of a swell.
Members EVH Wolfgang
That's good! I thought you fixed that issue a while ago When I took mine appart, I took a few shot on my digital camera, just in case I forgot how to put it back together
Members H535
I thought I had too 2 weeks ago it happend again to me. This time it did not come all the way off but it was split between the bushing and shaft. It still worked but was not very smooth and would not completely turn off the volume. I went to EB site to see how much they would charge to replace the string/spring but use my linear pot. That is when I found the PDF doc on how to do the install. They both work great now and the string wind is even with no twists and the spring is not near as stretched as before.
