Help with preamp selection

I'm looking for a preamp that has the following features:

MIDI switchable

3 ch (clean, crunch, lead)

Won't break the bank

I'm looking for a Mesa type sound for both crunch and lead, so the Triaxis is the obvious choice, but are there any others I should consider?

Thanks!

Edit: forgot to mention, I don't mind modellers, as long as they sound good. I'd like something that doesn't make a Les Paul and a Strat sound the same, know what I mean? :p

I use a TriAxis myself, but other preamps I've tried and liked that usually cost less are:

Rocktron Prophesy & Voodoo Valve

Eganator/Vendetta VP4 (Rocktron as well)

Marshall JMP1

Carvin Quad X-Amp

Digitech Twin Tube GFX1

I also have a VAMP Pro--it does have a few good sounds in there but, the different model sounds don't feel or sound much different for that matter. Do you agree?

Yup, the models all seem to sound pretty much the same, just different levels of gain. Plus, all my guitars sound exactly the same through it.

I'm basically looking to replace my F-30 - it has great cleans, but I'm looking for more of a Mark-series lead sound.

Have you considered the Egnater M4 or Randall RM4.

This set up would allow you to purchase the diffent modules at your own pace.

While its not cheap by any stretch, after you purchase the chasis, its only as expensive as the amount of modules that you buy.

Also you can choose the Modules that suit your taste.

Im currently considering one myself.

Good luck.

Mesa Quad preamp, dont look any further!

1. you get the mesa sound you want

2. it is footswitchable or you can use 1/4' button on/off pedals.

3. You get the preamp of mark IIC and Mark III for crunch and leads with 4 channels to switch from and eq on off switching.
