Members millertime Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 i was wondering:confused: when did mesa start putting 12a7 tubes in the 50/50 rack power amp? i heard that the older model do not have the 12a7's in them. not sure if its true. reason beingi have a chance to get a older model cheap....thanks:p

Members H535 Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 the older 50/50 has 12ax7's. When the 2:50 came out I tried to pin Mesa down as to what was different between the two. Their responce was, nothing in the amp just a cosmetic change to match the 20/20 and 2:90. The 50/50's styling is not all that impressive after all. Great amp though, I love mine.

Members H535 Posted December 13, 2005 Members Posted December 13, 2005 Wow old thread. I have no idea why they cut the 1/2 power switch. I see they added a bias switch though so you can use EL34 tubes or 6L6's. That's kind of cool.
