Members separanets
Hello, I have a trouble with my Digitech GSP 2101. When I turn the wheel it switches to presets randomly or chaotically like 1,2,4,99,16,1,7 and so on. I wonder where the problem could be, the battery's over or something else? Members scottop1972
i was reading the digitech forums on their legacy products page.... sounds like there is some contact cleaner or something you can spray in there? you can always change the battery. you will however lose all your presets... unless you can make a bulk dump work with the program RP edit. try the battery. Members separanets
Thank you, I never used the GSP before, so I will need to take some time to learn how to tweak it. I was also told to replace the encoder, though I don't know what it is.
Members scottop1972
you got me on that one.... never heard of an encoder before.... do you have RP edit on your computer.... you can just use it to control your 2101.
Members separanets
No, I don't know yet what RP edit is, I hope I'll learn it and I think I need a midi cable first in order to use it, right? p.s. I googled about the encoder and found that it is something like this: http://www.alanmacek.com/robot/ That may make sense too.

IIRC, RPEdit doesn't work with the 2101, and that's a shame because it's a very nice app. You can however use the free software on this page. http://members.liwest.at/groovingarts/DigiTech.html MIDIWizard is highly recommended with the 2101, at one time it was free but now the authors are charging for it. You'll have to email me@grahampearson.com to get a copy. To use any of this software you'll need a PC to MIDI interface. I've been using a cheap USB to MIDI cable from E-MU and it works fine. If you need a new encoder you can order one from Digitech's outlet store for about $5 US. BTW, it looks like this.
Members separanets
Thank you I'll get down to this as soon as possible. But I have one more question: I opened the lid of my Digitech L.E. I found this card installed (ppc-210) http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6825/dsc02225ji6.jpgalternative link http://file4.webfile.ru/1476063/%5Bwebfile.ru%5D_DSC02225.JPG So I wonder if I have to upgrade my preamp or not, because I compared it with my friend's Digitech Studio 2101 v 2.00 and also found this card installed http://img403.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc02223wr9.jpgalternative link http://file4.webfile.ru/1476052/%5Bwebfile.ru%5D_DSC02223.JPGalternative link http://slil.ru/24653354 It is so confusing because I read it's impossible to install the PPC-210 card onto the v2.00 preamp. So can you please tell me wether I need one more card for my preramp or it's fine. Thank you.
Members HKSblade1
dont spray contact cleaner on rotary encoders. I did that to some other controls on a jm150 and it did not like that. I replaced the encoders and it worked fine. get a good desoldering iron and/or solder sucker, solder wick.
Members separanets
Can you please tell me the parameters of the encoder to replace?

The PPC-210 is the optional SDISC processor upgrade for the 2101, and they're kinda rare and highly sough after. What it does is basically double the processing power of the unit so you can run even more FX algorithms or have seemless patch change with FX spillover and morph into patches (single SDISC algs only). Your hardware is fine, I would highly recommend you order the last firmware upgrade for the 2101 (v.3.00), you can get it along with much more info here. http://home.arcor.de/pirat28/sites/gsp2101main.htm Plus, you'll get a nice little intelligent pitch shifter FX with the new firmware and everybody needs that. Members separanets
Well, not to confuse every one. I myself have the Ver 3.00, is there any more upgrade stuff for this version. If there is, I'll certainly download it? My friend has the ver 2.00, I don't know how come his preamp also has the ppc-210 installed. I'll tell him that good news, cause he didn't even guess. Thank you for the links, though I must say I had them in my favourite links folder long before I got the 2101. It was them, these links, that inspired me to bid the digitech. The seller said it was the Artist he was selling, but he wasn't sure because the tilte was the most part worn doen. And when I opened the prasel I found it was a silver face L.E. with the Artist upgrade.
Members boogieman_dan
Ah, my bad...I assumed you were running old firmware on your 2101. Sounds like you own a loaded 2101 LE too. Anyway, if when you turn the big wheel and the patches come up strange it's most likely the encoder pot. Order a new one from http://outlet.digitech.com/ and install it, or get a local tech to do it, I can send you a schematic if you need it.
Members separanets
YEAAAS!!! I sharply need it!!! That'll be very great of you, if you send it, cause I understand a little bit in that area, and I can do a lot independently, not frittering money away on craftsmen, if I have a chematic! And since I hse used devices having their circueits at hand, will be good garantee for me and save my money.
Members separanets
I emailed to the Digitech supoort and they advice my to try cleaning the contacts first. I washed the contacts with spirit and now problem is solved. I don't know wether or not to email them again and say that everything's all right. I'm afraind it may bother them, but it also can help them systematize users problems. What are your thought on that?
