Combo on top of rack

I'm trying to choose a rack case. I will probably go with a Gator like these:

Can a case like that support the weight of a 50lb combo on top permanently?

it might, but i don't think so.. if my rack had to carry a combo on top, i'd opt for a solid wooden rack case.

god, my rack is so heavy now that I actually have the rack.

 

Do you think my 6 space shock mount 1/2 full would be able to sit on a cabinet safely?

I have a wooden case and normally stack my combo on top. I wouldn't risk it with one of those relatively lightweight plastic jobs personally.

What about a suspension rack?

The ones available here are wooden 9mm 5 ply.

I have a gator 6 space rack, and if I put my 74lb 2x12 combo on top of it, the rack case sags a lot. I do not recommend it, even at 50 lbs.

Hey rackq,

 

I put my '92 Marshall 30th Anniversary 6101 1x12 combo amp on top of my Mesa Boogie 4 space shockmounted rack all the time at my cover band gigs.

I wouldn't recommend it though with either the SKB or Gator rack cases.
