Members alekke
I was wondering when I should change the tubes on my engl 530 preamp? I bought new jj ecc83 from eurotubes for it 2 years ago and I play very high gain setting. also, I noticed very annoying buzzing (squealing) coming from it. dont know when the buzzing started cause I have my noise gate on the whole time, but wheh I turn it off the buzzing appears. it wasnt that loud before. Its not from the guitar or poweramp or the effects, nor the other stuff in the room, I checked. Members rotebass
Sounds like a tube has gone microphonic, does it happen on both channels of the preamp? If it only happens on the lead channel it's probably the tube that is specific for that channel. If it happens on both channels it is most likely the input tube as these are usually shared between the two channels. I use Mesa amps so I don't know if the layout is the same however, I would suggest speaking to Engl directly.
