Amp switcher with load help

I am trying to build a rack that will combine at least two of my heads. I want something similar to the Mesa High Gain Amp Switcher, that will switch between multiple heads, but also take the load from them.

What I want to achieve is: Guitar to switch - amp 1, 2 or X, then different effects (in same switch or different switch), back to amp, then out to one or two stereo cabs. I don't want one amp going to one cab and one amp going to another. I want both heads going to the same cab(s), thus the need for a switch with load capabilities.

What devices will do this beside the Mesa and the Suhr (which at $1600, is a bit steep for my pockets).

You don't technically need a load on an amp which has no signal to it, or at least not very much of one. That's how the Radial Headbone works, which I use to switch between two heads into one cabinet. You could in theory route the Headbone into a load box like the Hot Plate, then to your effects and a stereo power amp to your cabs. Should work out a good amount cheaper than $1600! It'd only do two heads though.

How do you have both amps hooked up to the speaker? Meaning, the speaker outs on the amps, do you use a Y cable, or are you going left/right on a stereo cab?

You don't - the speaker outs from the amps go back to the Headbone

. It really does work a treat. I don't use it on my big rig because I run the two amps in parallel, but on my smaller rig it makes things a lot easier.

Cool, that looks like it will do what I'm looking for.
