Members boatshoes Posted July 21, 2009 Members Posted July 21, 2009 If I was only going to buy a single multi effects unit in a rack, what else would I need? A power conditioner? Anything else?
Members Repner Posted July 22, 2009 Members Posted July 22, 2009 You wouldn't really need anything other than a controller to be honest. If that's all you want in your rack, then it'll work for you. A power conditioner would be good for the added protection, but it's up to you
Members jdr94 Posted July 24, 2009 Members Posted July 24, 2009 single multi fx like a digitech gsp? are you lookin to go all rack? if you're goin complete rack you'll need a power conditioner, a power amp, and any other extras you like(wireless, maximizer, etc.) then of course somethin to control it all now if you're talkin multifx like a gmajor and you're gonna use the preamp of your head then all you need a controller to go with it.
Members HeimBrent Posted July 24, 2009 Members Posted July 24, 2009 However; if you're getting a rack anyways, there are some things that might be practical like a drawer, tuner or EQ for finetuning frequencies.
Members skibob Posted July 25, 2009 Members Posted July 25, 2009 Be careful... It's a slippery slope. It always starts out "I just want a rack with a multi-FX", then it's "as long as I have the rack, I might as well get a tuner, power conditioner and a drawer". Then "I would like to use a few pedals so I need a loop switcher and a shelf". Then "Maybe I should go with a rack preamp and poweramp". Next thing you know, you have a rack that looks like something out of a NASA control room and it's the size of a refrigerator. I'm on step 3 myself...
Members HaloJem Posted July 25, 2009 Members Posted July 25, 2009 ...and then you need someone EVERY TIME to help you load your NASA / GPS controlled unit out to a jam session or gig ... like this!
