Members chucklett
I got asked to do a weekend gig with one of the larger rigs that I have used a few weeks back. 12 Martin Mac 250 washes, 80 Fresnel lights with other cans, 12 ACLs, 4 Martins strobes with color scrolls, 8 more colorscrolls, Wholehog II with a wing and other stuff. It was for Pridefest Milwaukee. I have to admit the environment took a little getting used to that's for sure. I mostly do electronic nightclub gigs so I knew the organizers who asked if I wanted to do it. All I had to do was program and operate. But it was fun and it turned out great. Free food and booze all weekend as well. I'm already booked to do it again next year. Hope you enjoy. sorry about this one as it got rotated. Members Rimmer
Cool. Did you use cherry pickers to get the up and down truss (auditorium) motors in? Looks like a good solid structure to work with. You the lighting designer and OP? Personally. I would try to get a larger budget for moving lights. I can see a load of Mac 2000 wash/profiles (or Varilite 2000's ) on that stage and up and down truss in my head.. Budgets are a pain sometimes though so I understand...! Regards. Rimmer . Members dcastar
I know that stage quite well.... Summerfest Grounds, Milwaukee WI, Potowatomi stage. The sound in there is awful... metal roof... but for lighting, it's a dream! Good to see familiar territory!
Members chucklett
I didn't get in on it till the equipment was already picked out. I would have used bigger lights as well. All the truss was on chain motors. I basically just programed about 15 movements and then did everything else on the fly. Its nice that you can just move one knob to change the speed of the motion on the hog. That and combine cues as well to make something new, especially when you only have an hour or two to program. Attendance was 30% over the record year so hopefully we will have a much bigger budget for next year.
