Members BillESC
Ever wish you could have a lighting position in a tent? Or rig a truss between two tent poles? These are just the ticket. Bolt lights directly to them or install a pipe. Rated Eye Bolts can be used as rigging points for truss, etc.
Members Miko Man
Bill, Nice fabrication. I assume that you are showing two separate brackets, since I don't see any welds joining the uni-strut members. Unless the photos are for illustrative purposes only, the inclusion of the hex nuts on the upper portion of the U-bolts look to me to be a potential defect point. The hex nuts could (might) prevent the uni-strut from being tightened enought to adequately clamp the pole. I'm not an engineer, but I've made similar brackets for non-rigging uses. If I may offer a modest suggestion, you might add a small through-bolt at the ends of the uni-strut channel (spanning the channel) to act as a "safety" to keep the clamp from slipping out of the channel (if an O-clamp bolt loosens a bit under a side load. A square bail clevis pin or similar might be enough to act as that safety, and would speed up the installation. Mark C.
Members BillESC
One bracket. If you look at the top picture you'll notice small circles inside the bottom of the top channel, these are weld points on 3" centers. I only included the hex nuts at the back of the bracket to hold the U bolts straight for picture purposes, they would not be used in actual rigging situations. I'll consider including an aircraft pin at each end as an option but don't think it is really necessary.
