A bit over budget at ~$1k each, but I've heard it said the Yorkville Unity U15 is about the smoothest sounding box in it's league.

Their reputation seems to match your application, as they are not such an "in your face rock box".

Nine rigging points included.

If we are jumping into this league... you may want to also check out the QRx line from Electro Voice... these are just awesome sounding boxes!!!

Yeah problem being that we only really have about $750 per speaker (or total $1500 for both).

I would not disagree with what others (most more knowledgable than me) have said. If I were going to buy $1,500 worth of speakers, I would at least call Dan at audioeast.com to see what he would have to say. I have bought stuff from them before, and they seem like straight forward guys, happy to help. I have been very pleased with the sound of the Yorkville speakers that I have bought from them, and maybe they would have a good reccommendation for you in your price range.
