Members troyri
I am in need of a sub amp and wondering about this unit. I have a pair of JBL M-Pro subs. Would this be a good match for these subs? Budget is kinda tight as usual so that's why I'm questioning this amp.
Members abzurd
Should work fine. As you probably know, the GX line is new for QSC, but they make great amps.
Members troyri
I thought it would be fine. I (was) am a bit confused on the power ratings though. Does the amp put out 700W per channel at 4 ohms or 700W total at 4ohm? Newb on PA stuff here obviously.

Members abzurd
If you're talking about a MP418S sub, it is indeed 4 ohms. JBL publishes power specs that are pretty aggressive. Note in their powered version of that sub they don't use anywhere near the "watts" they claim for the passive version. So long story short, 700W will be fine for that box. Just be sure to run only one sub per side of the amp. If you were to "daisy chain" one sub to the other you'd end up with a 2 ohm load. The amp will do it, but it has an idiot proof design that throttles the output down to some minuscule amount so you'll know it's not happy. Members troyri
So that isn't a typo on the 2ohm output. Very interesting, but yeah I'll run 1 per side of the amp. Thanks.
Members witesol
it's a good amp, been abusing one for some gigs outside every friday and saturday this summer. You mightv look into a used RMX2450 as well. I see them all the time around $400-500. The ability to run below 4 ohms is nice
