Members samkokajko
It has a built-in DI, use the XLR out.

Members samkokajko
Just plug an XLR from the output to your board. It will handle everything else.
Members picker13
The XLR out on those amps is post-pre-amp and post EQ. Depending on your settings and the sound engineer's personal prefrences, they may either take the XLR out, or ask that you use a DI box between your bass and the amp, which would be before any preamplification or EQ (except for what might be on your bass[es]). Members savman1
). I think you answer is what I'm looking for, but it's greek to me. Can you tell a ROOKIE what you mean?
Members samkokajko
If you want to grab the feed before any of the pre-amp and EQ on the amp then you need to get a direct injection (DI) box. You would then plug your bass into this box. You plug the 1/4" out into your amp to pass the signal and you plug your XLR straight into the board. Members samkokajko
I don't think you need to use an active one, a passive one would work fine, (correct me if I'm wrong). If you wanted to get fancy and have a really nice tone with some settings you could get one of these.http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Tech-21-SansAmp-Bass-Driver-DI?sku=480206If I'm correct about only needing passive then you could get by with one of these http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-ULTRADI-DI400P-Passive-Direct-Box?sku=182498But it is Behringer. I have one and haven't had a problem but a lot of people will tell you to be ware.

Generally, an active D.I. is recommended with passive instruments to avoid loading the pickups. If the bass has active pickups, either may be used. Members savman1
I've seen 3 different answers. Some say use the XLR on the back of the amp, others say use a passive d box or an active d box. Which is better?
Members samkokajko
I personally would use the XLR on the back of the amp. The disadvantage that picker13 pointed out would be that you are limited by how the amp sounds. If you like the sound of the amp it isn't a problem though. So then if you don't like the sound of the amp you need an active DI that you place between the bass and the amp.
