Members jgthatsme Posted November 8, 2008 Members Share Posted November 8, 2008 I stopped in my local GC earlier this afternoon to check out a few things and they happened to have the new EON 515 tops over the new EON 518S subs combo setup in the sound room. In fact, JBL gear was being featured in the sound room. They has numerous JBL cabinets on display and only one or two cabinets from Mackie, Bose, Harbinger, Peavey, B-52, and others (not that I'd want many of those others!). Visually, they looked nice even though GC used generic speaker poles which didn't fit properly. The tops looked like they were about the tip over. The sound was okay. Only one side was working and the music was a live CD of some screaming death-metal band which isn't my particular cup of tea. Hence, I can't really give a fair assessment of their sound. I didn't study them in great detail, but from what I saw I'm not sure the tops could double as floor monitors. I believe the 515 tops were $799 each and the 518S subs were $899 each.
