Vintage Art Deco Tube Radio

Hello,

Up for sale is a John Vassos Design Art Deco RCA Model 6T10 Table Top Wood & Chrome Tube Radio, this is extremely rare and in perfect functioning condition.

It measures 25 inches tall x 17 inches wide and 9.5 inches deep, The Cabinet finish is in good condition as well as the chrome. Certainly much less common than the Vassos floor radio

All switches appear to function as they should including turning it on , the dial light comes on, tuner knob moves the tuner hand, the selector of mode switch changes selections and the corresponding arrows on the dial illuminate

The volume increases and decreases the static hum and when you try to tune it you hear whistles going quiet and louder / stops and starts as you move along the dial as if it is trying to tune in

Chassis appear clean and in good condition as does the speaker and speaker cloth. Original interior decals present.

[John Vassos (born John Plato Vassacopoulos; 23 October 1898 – 6 December 1985) whose career as an American industrial designer and artist helped define the shape of radio, television, broadcasting equipment, and computers for the Radio Corporation of America for almost four decades. He is best known for both his art deco illustrated books and iconic turnstile for the Perey company, as well as modern radios, broadcast equipment, and televisions for RCA. He was a founder of the Industrial Designers Society of America, in 1965, serving as its first chairman simultaneously with Henry Dreyfuss as its president. Vassos' design philosophy was to make products that were functional for the user.]
