Members sevensinner
For those that might've missed this on the front page of H-C http://news.harmony-central.com/Newp/2004/MidiStream.html So the FCC approved em for general consumption. Assuming they're already available in Europe, anyone know how well they work?
Members scubyfan
They should have done it over the unlicensed 2.4 Ghz band via WiFi. They obviously ignored my nagging!
Members sevensinner
Well, since the other thread kind of got hijacked, The Wi-Fi idea sounds good, except would the TCP/IP requirement introduce extra overhead as well as the need for having an IP address assigned? It seems like it gets a bit messy in that case which is probalby why they stuck to using their proprietary implementation. But hey, if it works, cool. Wind synth players are particularly interested in wireless MIDI. Here's Onyx's demo: http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=1519#
Members mytee2.0
Get with the program. Wireless MIDI has been around since ott 5 I remember hearing about wireless midi during a news reel, of course back then you could spend a nickel for a news reel and still have change left over for trolley ride to battery park and have a piece of rhubarb pie.
