From all the research I've done, the MR-8 seems ideal. I've checked eBay listings a handful of times, and most recently I found average prices to be as follows: Mk I (red): +/- $70 before shipping Mk II (black/silver?) +/- $90 before shipping HD (black/silver?) +/- $100 before shipping I don't know if I can justify swinging that much cash, so maybe a partial trade could work? I have some pedals and possibly other gear I could part with. I'm not in a rush to buy but it seems harder to find them and I try to avoid eBay.
