I think you're overestimating the popularity of software vs. hardware. Yes, software is great, compact, cheaper, and has several advantages. But there will always be a need for hardware. Whether it be for easier accessibility of parameters or for people that are gigging, there are tons of people that still prefer hardware. And companies like Korg, Roland, and Yamaha will continue to make money from Tritons, Fantoms, and Motifs.

Also, the software market is a little flooded in some areas. There is a lot of software out there, but a lot of it is just rehash.

OK, if software is that much easier, just tell me what I have to buy, pay and integrate to have a software that competes against a Yamaha MOTIF ES8 in terms of functionality, quality and ergonomics.

Just a short table such as

ITEM $ WORK

PC 1500 8 Hours to procure

Windows - (In PC) 16 Hours to install and configure

Sound

Sequencer

Sampler

Sound Modules

Effects

Keyboard

Faders/Knobs
