SOLD 1996 Fender Tex-Mex Stratocaster. Candy apple red with maple fretboard. 9.5 radius, C shaped neck, jumbo frets, vintage tremolo, full size trem block, spaghetti logo. Predassessor to the Jimmy Vaughn model. Rare guitar, only made a couple of years. The CAR finish on this one has the gold undercoat (as opposed to the silver currently used by Fender) which gives it a darker candy look. The neck is amazing. Very comfortable C shape with a satin finish. Jumbo frets and 9.5 radius make this guitar very easy to play. The finish on the neck is very thin. Its starting to show wear on the fretboard much like you would see on a "relic". However, no relicing has been done to this guitar. This is natural wear that comes with a guitar that gets played alot. The fret show no wear. They have recently been leveled, crowned, and dressed. The action is low with no buzz or dead spots. Truly a players guitar. The body is in excellent condition. While there are a couple of imperfections, there are no scratches or gouges you normally see with a 15 year old guitar (see pics). It has spent alot of time on the wall hanger or in the case. Very well kept and cared for. I have had several Strats through the years and always come back to this one. I would put it up against anything Fender puts out these days. Several mods have been done to this guitar including:

*Seymour Duncan SS-L 1's in the neck & middle positions (classic 50's Strat tones, Alnico 5)

*Fender American alnico 3 bridge pickup with baseplate (Tele twang)

*CTS pots, Orange drop cap, CRL 5 way switch, cloth leads (significant upgrade to factory wiring)

*Bridge pickup tone control (Bottom tone knob controls bridge & middle pickup)

*Fender American pickguard & knobs (new, 3ply)

*Fully shielded body cavity & pickguard (Very quiet, less 60 cycle hum)

*Newer vintage style tuners from a Fender Custom shop 66 reissue (much better tuning stability, stays in tune for days)

*Schaller strap locks (New Fender equipment)

Looking for interesting trades.
