Members bullpencoach
I'm new to digital keyboard recording. Can your average stage piano (Yamaha P models, Kord SP models) that has midi capability also be used as an effective midi controller for things like digital drum kits? I know the touchpads on many of the controllers are preferable, but I wouldn't mind having the hammer-action keys of a larger keyboard. Thanks! However, if you are going to spend the money on an 88 key hammer action digital piano you may want to consider getting one that is optimized as a midi controller (four zones... each with assignable patch change, controller change/range, etc.). I have the Kurzweil PC88mx and I love it.... You can control a whole rack of synths, romplers, samplers, and keyboards with one press of a button. I believe that the current offering is the Kurzweil PC2. Another way to go is to get a controller that has no internal sound generation capability... Like the StudioLogic series.
