Members baldo
oscar is 91 today. they are playing a tribute to him all day. check it out - it is tremendous. FM91 toronto i heard him a live a few times, too few times. the best was '76 in columbus, ohio. you could have heard a pin drop when he sat down to play; absolutely awesome solo performance. Members baldo
i take it that someone with the jazzed moniker and the canada address would know the last name. hope you are able to catch some of it. always refreshing to hear his music on the radio. Members jazzed
Fair assumption I saw him recently, actually, here. He still sounded amazing. Not quite the same agility he once had, particularly in the left hand (likely because of the stroke he had), but still absolutely incredible. Members baldo
did you hear the replay of the marian mcpartland interview? oscar @ his best. outstanding interview, although, i would have preferred that MM asked him more about his major influences --- i did miss the first 15 minutes of the program, so i may b wrong about the omission... regardless, a great radio experience. Members Jeebus
I missed the Oscar tribute, but I'm not surprised. 91.1 plays great jazz most of the time. Almost everytime I tune in there's something interesting on. There's another station here that thinks they play jazz, but it's usually kenny g style "smooth" jazz crap. Dear gawd. Members davehorne
Oscar is _not_ 91, he's 80. He was born in 1925.
Members baldo
80 is the age. not 91. to play like he does @ 85 would be... like hitting 91...out of 100.
