Terrible error-strewn licks, general-midi sounds to the extreme, over-usage of timpani, tons of false builds. That is unreal! Actually, and this is a little embarassing, when I was on the guitar forums and I first heard Jarl's compositions I didn't totally understand what was so bad about them! It took a lot more years of theory, a more discerning ear as far as tone and instrument quality were concerned, and just generally listening to a lot more kinds of music to understand how terrible he was! Listening to it again is quite entertaining. HE is very good at musically creating tension and then not releasing it. Ever. Interesting. I had never seen a picture of him and he looks exactly as I would imagine. Even if that picture isn't really him he did a good job of using a picture of somebody that his troll identity would most certainly look like. Dressed in all black. Defiant stance.
