Members ExplodingBoy
Anyone else think they used alot more digital synths on the new album? Has alot of that Waldorf sound. Does Martin do alot of the synth programming? I wish I knew how to program like that. Those guys have such amazingly rich lush and textured sounds. I love the new album and highly recommend it. A masterpiece IMO.
Members Jeebus
I don't recall seeing any Waldorf in those DM studio pics that were posted recently. There's certainly alot of analog though... Softies maybe?
Members felix
From the keyboard article I read, lots of vintage analog, including Arp 2600's. Very little mentioned in terms of softsynths, and I don't remember Waldorf being mentioned at all.
Members ExplodingBoy
I never realized you could get such hard cold metallic sounds out of analog synths. Very interesting. Some of the stuff on that album sounds very digital. I guess you can program anything you want on some of their analogs though. Man that's such a great album. It's good to hear those guys return to form without sounding dated or like they're trying too hard to remake "Violator".

Members TrashFace
That was a cool link. Lots of new records are insanely loud.
Members felix
Yeah, the loudness wars suck. Maybe it's a conspiracy - someday in the future all of these recordings can be remixed and remastered and re-released? Now that I have the article in front of me, gear that's mentioned as having been used on Playing the Angel: Arp 2600Way Out Ware TimewARP2600NI ReaktorNI Pro53Voyetra 8 IIRC, Remix had a more extensive kit list. Members Umbra
Didn't sound like any waldorf in there to me.
Members MuzikB
They don't use not one ounce of Waldorf gear. Whether it sounded like waldorf gear is a good or bad thing is subjective.

Christ, I thought they didn't really like anything but analog synths and Emax samplers... Guess I needed a bit of an update. Nice rig, though.
