Members StratKat
The only time ive heard the term raking is when you rake the pick along the length of one string in a sliding motion to create a special effect. Or are you referring to "sweep" picking perhaps? If so them try a search in this forum for "sweep" and you'll find alot of clues.
Members lestat
SK, the 'pick rake' you're talking about was probably a pick slide, using pick to slide or scratch over the length of the string, which sounds cool. raking is sorta like sweeping, except you're sweeping over palm muted strings. you can try using your picking hand or your fretting hand to mute the strings that you're not playing. don't mute the string that you want to play. in the tab below the rake is shown as a ^ below the note (8 fret, high e string). play these in G chord, the lick before the rake is a G major pentatonic, and the raking lick is a G minor pentatonic.e ------3-------8b10r8-6----b ----3---/8----^--------8--g -/4-----------------------d --------------------------a --------------------------e --------------------------
