Posted November 27, 2002 Members Share Posted November 27, 2002 caged is just a way of looking at the fretboard. what do you mean by "diatonic chords"? i'd think he's just trying to teach you how to build chords, which will then fit into the CAGED patterns. Members StratKat Posted November 29, 2002 Members Share Posted November 29, 2002 as mentioned already, the caged system is just a way of identifying patterns of different chord forms al over the neck. The diatonic thing is a set chord type refering to intervals. I think of the diatonic thing as how to play the chord, and the caged thing as to where it can be played for any given key.
