Members Fuzzbomb20 Posted December 1, 2002 Members Posted December 1, 2002 I keep hearing about nashville, what is it? I presume there are some good techniques and melodic approaches...Can anyone help?
Members dog online Posted December 1, 2002 Members Posted December 1, 2002 I dont know much about it at all, except I was told it was a way to number different chords to be played. I know one guitar teacher that had no clue when someone gave a song with this to play at a gig. I found this site that looks interesting for explaining it.http://www.musicdigest.com/douglascorner/dialachord.htm
Members StratKat Posted December 1, 2002 Members Posted December 1, 2002 Nashville? ummm, thats a place near the east coast below kentucky that sort of has a music thang goin on fer awhile! (duck) OH, the NASHVILLE Tuning thang? Right? noo? Or the NASHVILLE progression thang? Right! The progression thang is just a substitution of numbers for note names. So take thei example below for reference using the C Major scale. C=1=I D=2=II E=3=III F=4=IV G=5=V A=6=VI B=7=VII C=8=VIII (or Octave) So, if i said its a 1-4-5 progression in C the chords would be C, F,and G. Or if i said to add the 7th to a C chord you add the 7th note to it to make a C7 chord. Get it? As to the tuning craze that swept the country scene back in the 80's i never got involved with it myself. Anyone of us older chaps know the scoop on it?
