Members Superman
Tab is free which is nice but I'm finding out quickly that it is lacking in just about every other area. What's a reasonable alternative to tab that won't drain my wallet?

So tell me where I can find free copies of correct songs on the net? That's what I'm getting at here. Being able to read standard notation does jack for squat if you don't have anything to play. Members thamiam
What kind of songs are you looking for? Sheet music is one of the few areas in the business where the songwriter actually makes money, so it is usually not distributed for free. But there is some out there. What genre/style/bands? Members ralphster007
Download the MIDI file for the song and convert into notation using FINALE or some other notation program. I do it for keyboard parts all the time.

Well, the best idea is probably the MIDI files then. also, If you have Band-in-a-box, you can get those files and sometimes they have melody already in them that you can print out.Do a Google for "free rock blues sheet music", and you'll get a lot of sites that will have samples or simplified versions for free, but you need to pay for the real stuff. Not too expensive though, $2-$5 per song.
