Members Slave_New_Wurld Posted March 12, 2006 Members Posted March 12, 2006 "A" root... 575777 So it has a 7th, sus4, 9th and 13th I put this into a chord finder thing and I think it blew up. But just before, it came up with "Em11" I guess the low A is not seen as a root, but part of the Em11 chord? Doesn't seem right at all to me. It definately sounds like the A is the root in a progression I put it in.
Poparad Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Am11 or Em11/A. The will sound like the root if you play the progression by yourself. If you have a bassplayer throw in a lower root note, it will change the sound of the chord. Although the low A and E in the voicing limit the probability of this, a bassnote of C for Cmaj13(#11) might work. The problem with thick, six note voicings is that it really limits the posibilities for alternate bass notes.
Members joenovice Posted March 12, 2006 Members Posted March 12, 2006 A13sus4 Root, 5th, flat 7th, 4th (no third), 13th, 9th. It looks like a complete chord to me. Dominate extended to the 13 with a sus4 replacing the 3rd.
