Members ednakayama
Hey, guys. For the past several months, I have been putting together a series of blog posts on what I feel are the essential guitar voicings and how to learn them systematically. I just finished the last (planned) installment which talks about some common substitutions, and I thought I'd share: http://www.ednakayama.com/2011/01/31/voicings-every-guitarist-should-know-drop-2-substitutions/ For reference, the original post contained a list of the topics I thought I would cover, and I stuck to it pretty closely: * Freddie Green - Bass + 3rd + 7th * Drop 2, "9 no 5" * Drop 3 * 3-note voicings - 3rd +7th + One Tension * -7b5 and Maj7b5 substitutions One obvious omission is the concept of relative major/minor substitutions (A-7 for Fmaj9, etc.). I might address that at some point. I'm very curious to know what you think, how the information could be better presented, and what other omissions you think should be included. The entire series is linked in my signature.
Members JonnyPac
Looks badass. Good work. Perhaps consider adding perfect fourth, diatonic fourth, so what pentatonic inversions, and upper structure chords.
