Members guitar_kid
So I've recently been playing thru guitar rig 3 and I read before I got it that just plugging a guitar into the line-in can create unwanted noise cause of some kind of mismatch. I have been connecting my guitar to the line-in of my mac thru a lil 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and sure enough it's noisy. Would a DI-Box solve this problem? If not what would aside from a usb/firewire interface?
Members stratotak
I was just about to post a similar question..Logged in and saw yours..Basically same thing.I have a Audigy 2 and guitar into line-in of the sound card..Nothing in between.I dont notice much noise..And signal is strong..Hits about -6 ..Would a D.I. improve sound?? Members Polaris20
As cheap as they've become, I would just get a USB interface with a dedicated guitar input, something from M Audio perhaps. Native Instruments even sells scaled down versions of GR with pocket sized interfaces.
Members aliensporebomb
The M-Audio Fast Track would be the cheapest interface I can think of for Mac USB connection. And it's quiet and reasonably inexpensive.
Members Danox3
A DI will bring you down to Mic Level (-48db)
