Members JETKING
i've heard of these "phishing" scams, and that sounds alot like one. be careful, make sure that it is indeed Paypal contacting you and not someo one with the same typeface and logos, etc. if they ask you for account numbers and what not, BEWARE!!! Members TheAtomicJeff
It's probably fake. Report it to Paypal at spoof@paypal.com.
Members Teahead
Yeah, close the email, don't use the links in it. Go to the PayPal site from your bookmarks or something and check it out.
Members mst3k
That IS paypals legit url, so this might actually be something real. Best to contact paypal directly and check into it further.
Members saturdaysaviour
it's a scam! run away! yes, it does look like paypal's real address but that's because it was cut and pasted in to his post. if you hover your cursor over the link in the email, you'll probably see that it actually points to somewhere else. Members dbx
Did they use a personal salutation in the opening of the email with your actual name as registered in paypal? If not it's a scam...send it to the spoof paypal site or just delete the email entirely...don't open the link...
Members teardrop
ya i didnt open any of the links in the email, instead i just went to paypal and myself, logged in and noticed there was nothing in my account that had anything to do with that email... damn scammers
Members mst3k
interesting. Thanks for the heads up. And yeah usually the link in your email takes you somewhere other than paypal. Just to be safe, regarding emails about anything financial, its always best to just delete the email and contact paypal, your bank or whatever if you want to know the truth. Members Thelonius
I got that email today as well. My paypal does have some suspicious activity so I wouldn't blame them for sending something. But I'm wondering myself.
Members Sir H C
The evil scam is that they will go to some site (often hacked into) and open a daughter window while the main site bounces forward to the real paypal site. So you have this daughter window that asks for your information while in the back you see a legitimate PayPal window so you think you are safe. Not so, it is a scam. Run. Members Acid Test
Don't follow the link but rather just send me all of your money. I'll make sure it goes to a good purpose, promise. btw, this is a scam - Paypal and E-bay both have policies where they will not send you any link to follow in an e-mail. Members AbbeSauniere
It is most definitely a scam. Got one of those e-mails a couple months ago and fowarded it to Paypal. They confirmed that it was a scam.
