Members liliththekitten
Opened mine up and took pictures of the chips, etc. Should help in identifying them: http://misslilita.tumblr.com/post/23618130649/inside-the-jx-8p-i-wanted-to-see-which-opamps I have JRC4558DD's - reading guitar forums it seems DD's and D's are best but they letters don't make that much of a difference - right, cue boob jokes. I have the same JX-8P SH V-3 0 chip. My JX-8P has a 3-prong lead, patch names on the buttons (would rather not have) and a serial # starting with 556. Do want an MKS-70 too. Members Exer
Here's a link to an interesting blind test : JRC4558 vs. LM1458 op amps in a Tube Screamer pedal. Could you guess which is which? http://www.marksmart.net/gearhack/ts7/opamp/LM/JRCvsLM.html
Members liliththekitten
I think most guitar forumites really can't tell the difference. But if the JX-8P really does sound different from the JX-10 - and not having a JX-10 I don't know - then why? Filters and LFO?
