Marshal 3203

Anyone had any experience with this amp?

its a solid state power amp with a tube pre from what i remember. part of the mini stack series along with the 2204S, which i have.

 

i've heard they sound pretty good although some would scoff at it considering the solid state portion of the head. i played through one once but it was so long ago that i don't remember much about it. i do remember thinking that it wasn't very loud. that could have been because it needed maintenance or because i was playing through a 212 cab rather than 412.

 

i'd say it would be worth a shot but i wouldn't pay very much for one.

it's only solid state preamp (except the PI) and EL34's from what I've read....

I've had a 3203 and a couple of the 4203 combos. They're decent amps. Pretty close to classic Marshall sound at controlable volumes.

Those are really cool amps and in fact they were included as one of the 10 great bargin amps in a 1991 Guitar Player Mag (with Slash on the Cover). I haven't tried one but I would buy it if the price was right.
