Members purefender07
I was wondering if anyone could relate the differences in pedal use between these bands: Scratch Acid (Duane Denison) Jesus Lizard (Denison) Rapeman I know that during the Shellac era, Albini used the Interfax perculator, but what kinds of pedals were Denison using and what kinds of pedals were used on "Two Nuns and Mule Pack"? I am trying to find a sound that is close to Rapeman's on that album with the "sharpness" to it. I am also a huge fan of Denison.
Members elctmist
Denison wasn't using any pedals when I saw them. Just a Travis Bean into a rented HiWatt or Orange. Albini is also into the metal guitars and uses an obscure pedal called the Harmonic Percolator.
Members Sir H C
From what I understand most of Albini's sound is not the Perculator, just bits, most is just the amp (either a Traynor or a Bassman from what I have read) that is very crisp and clean sounding. Members DICKTRON
Denison was never in Scratch Acid. When I saw him with the Jesus Lizard, he wasn't using any effects as far as I could tell--there may have been something in a rack, but it was too far back to tell. I remember an interview with him where he mentioned using a digital delay sometimes, but it was always getting trashed. When I saw him, he was using Hamers rather than the Travis Beans he started with. Hi Watt amps, cranked {censored}ing loud. A lot of his Jesus Lizard weirdness comes from the odd chord shapes he uses, and the occasional fingerpicking rather than flatpicking. He's actually got a degree in Classical Guitar studies.
