Those japan ones are IMO as good as the american ones. cant say the same about the mexican made ones thats for sure.
Members Elliott Damage Posted December 11, 2005 Author Members Posted December 11, 2005 well the MIM's are almost $700!!! thats a little excessive. I kind of like that one on ebay, the wood has an interesting grain and its not too high of a price. I like plain finishes. i think overdone quilt etc..are horribly gawdy and ugly. i don't know, do you think i should go for it?
Members NoirAbattoir Posted December 11, 2005 Members Posted December 11, 2005 That's a bit high, in my opinion, but if it's got lots of fret left, it's in excellent condition, and has the hardcase, I could see spending that kind of money on one. They look damn sweet...

They look damn sweet... no hardshell. it appears to be in good shape. and these things aren't getting any cheaper.

Members hbar Posted February 19, 2007 Members Posted February 19, 2007 I paid $500 for mine about 4 years ago. It was from 1986, and the pickups had been replaced with duncan antiquities, and the grain on the body is just perfect. I felt like that was a pretty good deal.
Members wacopacco Posted February 19, 2007 Members Posted February 19, 2007 is there a way to check the year of it without having to pop the neck off and check the serial #
Members gorebuc Posted February 19, 2007 Members Posted February 19, 2007 I got my 2002 MIM, which had been sitting on a sales floor for quite some time, for $550 brand new...so...ya know...if its origin matters that much to you, but I'd think you could find one lower priced, like this other guy in the thread. No matter, they are probably the coolest mid-range Tele--I played them all in December, from Tribute ASATS to Nashville Teles, Deluxe RIs, '72 Thinlines, and 60's Classic. The '69 is so light and it just breathes and sings
