Almost Acoustic X-Mas bill tonight is:

5:00 Nada Surf

5:30 Hot Hot Heat

6:00 Death Cab for Cutie

6:35 The Bravery

7:10 Jack Johnson

8:05 The White Stripes

9:00 Coldplay

10:00 Depeche Mode

I'm not sure what word fits better: Scene or Hipster.

Janice and I will probably be there starting with Death Cab and if you watch the webcast we'll be the people rocking out. Peace.

Just saw Depeche Mode at the Staples Center......Most impressive!
Coldplay? Tossers!
Bravery? Can't sing on key live.
White Stripes.....Should be good.
The rest.....not for me.
There you go....let's get negative and see if we can kick this into life!

It was better being there ;)

Ahh, the days when I saw Muse live twice in the same week. That was sweet.

My opinions about the bands and performances.

Nada Surf - Kinda bland pop rock. Nobody really knew the band or the songs. Meh.

Hot Hot Heat - The lead singer is annoying as hell and sings too nasally. I think the only thing this band has going for them is their appearance (girls like guys with curly hair).

Death Cab for Cutie - First decent act of the night. They still played it a bit safe.

The Bravery - They put the art in retarded. Worst band of the night by far.

Jack Johnson - Played very well. Seemed to fit the mood of the crowd. Some nice singalong moments.

The White Stripes - Started off weak. Hit their stride about the third song. Everything after was great. Crowd was into it.

Coldplay - Soundguy screwed up and cranked the bass to annoying levels. Guitar wasn't mixed for the first few songs. A weak performance from Coldplay and I like them usually. Chris managed to make of for the performance with some good showmanship and interaction with the band and crowd.

Depeche Mode - Started off way too slow. They butchered the single by taking out the second guitarist and having him play piano. It did not work. It picked up speed though and things improved greatly. Still, not enough energy because the audience was tired by this point. Note to Gahan: learn a new dance move because the Mick Jagger thing is tired.
