Guitarist triggering samples

Hey I would like to make samples, lets say noise, or something that doesnt need to be sync'd to a metronome, and then trigger them while Im playing guitar via midi foot controller. I was looking into the boss sp series because I hear they are easy to use and are very inexpensive which is what I am really looking for. I just dont know if it can do what I want, are there any else that can do what I want for a cheap amount of money. I want some samples looped continuously and stopped and some samples just played once. If anyone could give me some advice I would really appreciate it.
