I can't say this surprises me, because alot of people run out and grab the next "new" thing as quick as they can. Hell, I'm guilty of that too, but I am actually surprised. The Crunch Box sounds great to my ears. Just for the hell of it I did a shoot out w/ the OCD, Keeley TS-9 Baked Mod, Catalinabread SCOD and the Crunch Box. This was put through a shiva EL34 on the OD channel w/ the that channels gain set at 9 o'clock.

The CB had the thickest tone out of all of them. The OCD could be dailed into similar range, but it did not have the thick sound that I personally like. The CB is also darker than the OCD, which I like.

The SCOD has better sustain than the others, but lacks the bottom and thickness of the CB, not a bad thing, just an observation. The SCOD does a great job at making notes leap off you fret board and sing. Still I give the edge to the CB, but lead go to the SCOD.

To each his/ her own, but the CB is a keeper.

I am looking for an averdrive to add some saturation and "hair" on the notes. I play high gain amps (XTC and a VHT CLX) I dont need to get much of my gain from the pedal, just a little bump, kind of adding an extra channel on the amp. You didnt happen to run your channel gain up on the Shiva while you were doing this shootout did you?

Yeah, I'd say that's what's largely driving it. The three 'improvements' MI made to the CB (ie. extended brightness from tone pot, volume parity at 12:00, internal trimmer to adjust depth of bass) based on feedback from the TGP largely. A lot of people thought the first version was A1, so hopefully that hasn't been diminished with the changes...shouldn't have.

They specialise in large scale bandwagons over at TGP.:D
