Members LoveMyLesPaul
Hey guys, I just bought a Russian BMP yesterday, and I was wondering... is there any problem with me converting it to a dc jack instead of a battery? I opened up the enclosure (after I took the feet off for velcro and discovered that one of the screws holds a ground wire on the inside) and the battery clip has plenty of length to reach the front face, where there's plenty of room between the in/out jacks to mount one of these any reason I shouldn't do this? thanks. Members MrSage
Yes. That's the wrong jack. Unless you want to do a lot of crap work to make sure it doesn't make contact with the metal of the enclosure. You want this one:http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=
Members LoveMyLesPaul
Thanks very much... is that because the muff is negative ground and the outside of that jack is positive? or do I have it backwards... or am I completely wrong all together? Thanks!
Members MrSage
It's because it's a metal jack whereas the plastic one would be isolated from the enclosure. I bought a few of those metal ones one time, and they don't really work very well for anything I've tried.
