Opinions on modded DD3s

Bought a stock Boss DD3 but found that, compared to my two Yamaha DDS-20Ms and DOD DFX94, it sounds a bit too clinical, which I think may be down to the way its first repeat is much louder and harder...

Has anyone here had their DD3 modded by Keeley or AnalogMan? Was it worth it?

I have the KDD-3 and I use it with the toggle switch in the left position (slightly rounding off the high frequencies on the repeats). It gives the repeats a nice analog feel, not over the top. If you want more degradation, you can choose the right position of the toggle switch, which makes the repeats sensibly dirtier.
A slight downside of this mod is that it only affects the repeats from the second one on. The first repeat remains clear, unmoded.
If you plan to use only one repeat, I suggest you to stay away from the Keeley's mod and to look into Analogman's work. I remember someone here said his mod affects the first repeat, too. Not very sure, though, please ask further.
