Members StompboxMan
Overdrive is light distortion like when a tube amp starts to break up. Distortion is heavy clipping of your guitar signal. It's tone is made up of mostly even harmonics. Fuzz is hard cliping to the pointthe signal starts to look square and sounds like fuzz. Members NoirAbattoir
The only real difference is the amount of distortion involved. In general, all of the afforementioned will "boost" a signal. However, they all have varying degrees of "distortion" to their sound. Overdrives = boost that is cleaner/less distortion (depending on the pedal) Distortions = boost that isn't too clean/more distortion Fuzz = boost that isn't clean/Nazty distortion
Members KRAA!!
In my mind: OD is tame Distortion is heavy fuzz is nasty and unrefined BUT mix two of them like a fuzz in front of a tube amp and you can have a big fat hammer.
